TO STUDY IN DU IS TO STUDY WELL

Before every onslaught in mind-boggling examinations, the nights tampering the board exams and the now routine Engineering and Law entrances, you tend to take a deep breath. “What next?” is a question that has been lingering ever since your tenth grade. But not anymore need you worry. The pristine environs of Delhi University says it all, you are in safe hands- not just for name is it India’s best University.
The South Campus with its fresh air bundling, the North Campus always jostling with activites, the colleges spread out through the Capital; all seem to grace you to a different life altogether, you live the DU life. Spend three years here, and no power can inhibit you from a different look at life. Yours is the life, and DU is the visa to the realms beyond. “I am just a first year”, is no excuse, every member is an equal contender; every new found friend seems age-old buddy. There is no stopping you, the first step is yours, and the escalation is DU’s. Reasons to love DU enchant endlessly.
Every college has its fresher’s mingling, strolling in the corridors and breathing in the air. There is a renewed zest; in each heart is an inspiration. There are in the classes handshakes by the minute and hugs by the hour. Phone numbers exchange like scribbles on papers. Unrest is beginning, a lot is to follow. The back-bench chatting has long started; the distraction by the fair ladies never left the blood. Bunking classes prove once again a safe exit, but the charm in classes abound larger than before. There is humour in the lectures, no student could ask for a better transformation from school. The students roam around in the college in vibrant dresses. The different hues, though separate from one another, seem to merge with each other. There would never be dearth of fashion statements as long as college life has its spell. Hang-outs are a round the year affair, discussions never run short of themes.
Each week is a new story, every day a new start- each hour there is a new crush. And the crushes end with a ‘crush’ too; but to the vigour there is no end point. No run-down can spoil your mood, the list of to-dos is ceaseless. The serene campus, affable friends, happening hang-outs and lovely ladies- what else do you need to ask? In every mind, there is furtive planning. Talents show in varied exponents, there is so much to do and yet little space to choose from. Before drooping to sleep, there lurks silent wishes to longer days and extended time. The equally gala nights are spent on guitars and murmuring. The events of the day cascade on the roommates, they jump in the same animation. The hours while as if they were seconds, ‘early to bed’ is not true anymore. Hale and heartiness comes naturally. There is no end to it all. Thus, life has graced so beautifully on us. With aspirations high, the spirits soar. With heightening spirits, comes the inner voice; the push to excel. We entered this vista, the window to our enhancement. Friends surround, and colours spark. This isn’t just the beginning, it is the inception.
In life there is gaiety, the spirits have never sailed so smoothly. The flags of aspirations soar high; fluttering in the air of dreams. Lead on, because tomorrow would just be bigger than Today.

 KNOW YOUR FRIEND FROM DU

After completing his schooling from MVM, Guwahati, Tonmoy Barua spent the five most glorious and beautiful years of his life at the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun. Being a war enthusiast he had an ardent desire to join the defence forces, but before he could gather the technical skills of war and strategy his keenness to serve the nation and don the star-studded uniform came to a halt when he was rejected on medical grounds. But as life goes on, he is now pursuing B.A. (Hons) Political Science from Moti Lal Nehru College, New Delhi and yearns to serve the country on different fronts.
