“Hey!! Did you check out the notice board today?” This is the only sound that seems to be ringing in the college these days. This is something unexpected for me as in school I always thought that the notice board is thing of passé for the happening college crowd. But now I know why?
The MUCH AWAITED AUDITIONS are here.
Bright and colourful posters adorning every wall, every pillar are amazing and the auditions breathtaking. Making to Hans Raj College had always been a dream and today, it has actually become a fantasy-land for me, broadening my horizon every second and showing me the unconventional stuff.
First, there was a marvellous orientation of all the socities of the college, TERPSI CHOREAN- the graceful, SWARANJALI- the nightingales, OORJA- the energetic, DRAMSOC- the voice, ILLUMINATI- the brain-stormers, DEBATE- the influential, NSS- the generous. Ohhh!!! the list is never ending. These actually give everybody a chance to flaunt their talent or be of service to humanity. My heart swelled with pride as I realized that the students are working so hard for the upliftment of the needy children whom I see on the streets of Kamla Nagar everyday.
The auditions were mind-boggling too. I became wary of the immense talent concealed behind so many unknown faces that I pass by everyday without a second glance. The real test was when I actually stood on stage. I could feel the chill creeping up my spine and numbness seeping through my limbs.
My heart throbbed wildly and my brain stopped functioning. It was then I realized that joining these societies is not all about fame or becoming a “hep” but all about exploring and grooming yourself. I saw a new girl inside me that day. I want to tell you my friends that you don’t have to be perfect to get into these. It takes a little talent and a lot of confidence and enthusiasm to get there. So I will rest my words by saying that:
Don’t sit idle,
Stand up,
Hit hard the paddle.
Even if you don’t get in,
Don’t give up.
Meet a new you,
Grab the chances few.
Give fear a shirk,
Only remember “HARD WORK”.
